Think Mobile Handset Upgrade Offers

The Vodafone 2G network is shutting down on 31st March 2018. This means you may need a new mobile phone or a new SIM card.
Think Mobile services use the Vodafone Network. Think Mobile services have been available with Vodafone 3G connectivity for several years and most Think Mobile customers are now using 3G services, however if you use an older mobile phone or SIM card you may need to replace it in order for your service to work after 31st March 2018.

Once you change your SIM and/or mobile phone your Think Mobile service will work in more places with faster data speeds than before.

How do I know if I need a new phone?
If you have a 2G phone then you will need a new phone to use your service after 31st March 2018.

You can check if you need a new mobile phone service by completing the following steps:
1. Find the IMEI number of your phone. This may be printed on a label under the battery, otherwise just dial *#06# on your phone keypad and the IMEI will be displayed on the screen.
2. Visit IMEI.info and enter your IMEI and click ‘check’. Click here for more information.
3. IMEI.info will return a result with information about your mobile phone. Click here for more information.

What do the results mean?
If the search result for your phone only shows GSM – you have a 2G phone. You will need a new phone.

If the search result for your phone shows HSDPA but the number 900 is not in the list – your phone does not support the right network frequency for the Vodafone 3G network. You will need a new phone.

If the search result for your phone shows HSDPA and the number 900 is in the list – your phone is a 3G 900MHz phone and is suitable for the Vodafone 3G network. You will not need to replace your phone.

As a minimum, your new phone needs to be compatible with 3G 900MHz networks. If you’re unsure if the phone you’re considering purchasing runs on the 3G network at 900MHz please either ask your retailer or call our Customer Care team on 1300 2 THINK (1300 2 84465).

Once you’ve purchased your new mobile phone, please call our Customer Care team on 1300 2 THINK (1300 2 84465) to order a replacement SIM card for your new handset.
