Understanding Mobile Data

We understand the mobile phone industry has a lot of technological jargon that can sometimes be misunderstood leaving customers highly confused. Think Mobile is all about simple and honest value, so to help make things clearer we have provided the below information about mobile data. This is only intended as a guide for what data can be used and the approximate usage involved with certain online activities. Internet in the palm of your hand, it's convenient and simple!

What can I access?

  • Email (via your mobile Outlook client)
  • Webmail (Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, etc)
  • Instant Messaging (MSN, Skype, etc)
  • Search (Live, Google, etc)
  • Browse the web
  • Street Directions (Google Maps)
  • Assisted GPS (make your onboard GPS faster and more accurate)
  • Blackberry Services (requires a Blackberry subscription)
  • Social Networking (Facebook, Myspace)
  • Videos (youtube)
  • Ringtones
  • Download applications and games

What does 120MB get me?*

On the Think Simple 12 Swift Plus using the example below, 120MB of data gets you all of this and still leaves you with approximately 50MB.

  • A typical Blackberry device will use 30Mb a month, so your 120Mb of included data on a Think Simple 12 should cover off your normal usage.
  • If you get 10 to 15 emails every day, on your mobile you could expect usage to be 20-25Mb per month.
  • If you do a couple of searches a day, on your mobile you could expect usage to be around 5Mb per month.
  • If you download a Google map each day, on your mobile you could expect usage to be 5-10Mb per month.
  • If you download a ringtone or song, you could expect your download to be 1-3Mb.

So you can see 120MB on your mobile gives you lots of options to stay connected when away from your PC.

What do I need?

  • A GPRS or 3G capable phone (most phones supplied within the last 2 years will have this)
  • A phone with a mobile internet browser installed (most phones will have this installed)- please refer to your phone manual or manufactures website for details on how to access and use the browser.
  • The correct settings in your phone to access the internet
  • If you cannot access the internet on your phone you will need to get the correct settings.
